Levitation returns to its downtown roots for its 10th year, hosted in multiple venues in downtown Austin including Stubb’s, The Mohawk, Barracuda, Empire Control Room, Cheer Up Charlies and more. One of the coolest things about Austin is the number of renowned live music venues in this area of town, and this year Levitation will utilize them to the fullest. All 5 Red River venues are within easy walking distance, except for Emo’s – which is just a short drive or ride away.

STUBB’S

This historic venue on Red River has been voted one of the top 50 music venues in the country, and serves up some great BBQ too. Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater is an open air stage with a large canopy perfect for projections and visuals to accompany the music on stage. Stubb’s will host some of Levitation’s biggest headliners over the 2018 weekend.

THE MOHAWK

One of our favorite places in downtown Austin – Mohawk is a landmark music venue & has hosted countless amazing shows in its decade years of operation, including Austin Psych Fest in 2010. The main stage has multiple viewing decks and the inside stage is the perfect spot to catch your next favorite band.

BARRACUDA

Barracuda is the quintessential rock and roll bar, operated by some of the folks behind the East Austin institution Hotel Vegas. Barracuda features two stages – the main stage outside in the courtyard and the wood paneled inside stage and bar. We’ve hosted many a show here, utilizing the venue’s dual stage setup to serve up a feast of sound and vision.

EMPIRE CONTROL ROOM

Empire features two stages along with a great patio, a massive sound system and a great setup for projections and visuals. A diverse array of talent has played Empire, and the venue has played host to many Levitation events over the years.

CHEER UP CHARLIES

Cheer Up Charlies is known for a friendly atmosphere and staff, great booking and its patio stage, which is surely the coolest outdoor stage in Austin with its natural rock wall backdrop. Add Arlo’s, Austin’s favorite vegan / vegetarian foodtruck, and you have one of the most popular venues in town.

EMO’S

Emo’s is located on East Riverside, a short drive or ride from the Red River district. A continuation of the legendary Red River club that helped put Austin on the indie / underground music circuit in the 90’s, the new Emo’s was built from the ground up for a great stage and sound experience. Emo’s was also the site of Austin Psych Fest 2012!
